Welcome to 2023-2024 5/6th Grade Band!
Congratulations! I am very pleased your child has expressed an interest in joining the CNUSD Elementary School’s instrumental music program.
The overall purpose of the Elementary program is to begin the study of a musical instrument and experience the pleasure of music through playing that instrument. Benefits from this kind of study go beyond the learning of music. Students also develop self-confidence, a good self-image, responsibility, self-discipline and they learn teamwork through playing with the band. All current research establishes a very strong connection between learning to play a musical instrument and improved test scores and grades.
FAQ’S

Band is a pull-out program open to all 5th & 6th grade students (no experience needed).

Band lessons are two times a week for 30 minutes.

There is No Academic grade for band.

The band will perform school concerts in December and May.

Students must provide their own instrument and method book.
